You Complete Me….Meal

Dear Market Goers,

GET RIGHT OUT OF TOWN!  Two of our favorite vendors are back this week!  1st AVE Bakery, bakers of the finest pies in the US of A, and Kilmer Orchards, with strawberries, asparagus, a super early variety of raspberries and some Pink Ladies that have been in cold storage since fall, will be starting again this week.  I don’t know about you, but I’ve missed these folks and their wonderful products!  They….they… complete me meal!

Thank you to Blue Ridge Gardens for doing a drop-in last week.  Those plants were QUALITY…and thanks to our musicians, Ellen James; Tabby Finch, Pat Egan and friend with their fantastic Irish tunes; and our local high school guy, Will Leigh, on his guitar.  This week we will have Ellen to start the market on her Celtic Harp until 10:30, Sean Goggin and Friend (yes..the College Guys are back) from 10:30 to 12 and Will Leigh from Noon to 1:00.  Don’t forget to tip the musicians….we love having them play at the market!!!!

We have some great new T-shirts and bumper stickers.   Check out our market table to get a t-shirt…they are SUPER-CUTE….Here’s one of our best customers, Sharon Mercke…I forced her to stand and display all her groovy market gear while I took a photo!!

Sharon Mercke in her PCM market shirt, holding our new PCM bumper sticker, and a Buy Fresh, Buy Local bag from Armfield, Miller and Ripley!

Friends, I’m not going to lie to you..most of the week was great (Was Delfest awesome?…Del Yeah!) but yesterday…well, frankly, days like yesterday make me appreciate  the promise of a better tomorrow…. fortunately, at my lowest point yesterday, I read this (more than once), which really helped me get through the day…so here’s this week’s market thought from Melody Beattie:

Resentments are the blocks that hold us back from loving others and ourselves.  Resentments do not punish the other person; they punish us.  They prevent us from fully enjoying life and from being in harmony with the world.  Resentments are hardened chunks of anger and only dissolve with forgiveness and letting go.

Letting go of resentments does not mean we allow the other person to do anything to us that they want.  It means we accept what happened in the past, and we set boundaries for the future.  We try to see the good in the person or the good that ultimately evolved from whatever incident we feel resentful about.  We try to see our part……Then we put it to rest.

WE STILL GOTS GREENS this week!  So take this opportunity to cleanse your system.  I read somewhere that our bodies are in tune with nature and that they crave the spring greens to cleanse all the heavier, comfort foods we consumed in the winter.  Makes sense to me…I’m sold!

Check our facebook page for updates and don’t forget if your web browser messes with the formatting of this e-mail, go to www.purcellvillecommunitymarket.com to view this e-mail in all it’s glory!

DON’T FORGET!!!! It is not too late to donate to the Purcellville Community Market’s grassroots effort to raise funds to finish up The Last Hardware Store, a beautiful documentary about one of our hometown treasures, Nichol’s Hardware. If you didn’t read the market e-mail where I made a compelling case as to why donating to the completion of this movie is a GREAT IDEA, or you just want to refresh your memory, click here!   Thanks to those of you who have already donated. Through $25-$100 dollar donations we’ve managed to raise over $1,00o through contributions from PCM as well as customers like you!  And you get your name in the credits at the end of the film for donating..I felt kind of proud seeing Purcellville Community Market up there on the big screen!

Your garden should be enjoyed from planting to harvest, check out these tips to get the most out of your garden this year!
As the summer starts heating up and your garden begins to thrive, so too do the bugs.  As you finish planting your garden, consider using repellant planting to help manage pests.  Did you know that if you plant green beans with potatoes you can help control the Colorado potato beetle?  Check out this list to see what else could help. Happy Gardening!
