Yep, it’s the Grand Opening of our Summer season tomorrow!  Our hours officially change this week to 9 am to 1 pm throughout the summer. We have some fun planned that will start with a ribbon cutting at 9:30 with the great folks who serve our town, including the best mayor in Virginia, Bob Lazaro!  Those incredibly talented lads, Jake and the Burtones, are our featured band AND we will be giving away 10 cute t-shirts embroidered with our sweet sunflower logo (see picture at end of e-mail) as well as some market cookbooks to those  Spectacular Customers who get there early enough to attend the ribbon cutting!!!  The weather is going to be gorgeous, so come on out and enjoy…we also have some other special guests and some special new vendors that you will have to come see and experience!!!  BUT I’ve promised a few things lately that didn’t materialize due to bizarre and strange acts of nature and human nature.., but I have a feeling that all of those things previously promised are going to come together in a crazy, divine, dizzyingly impressive conglomeration which I will call “The Perfect Market”.  But I don’t want to promise anything I can’t deliver, so come out and see for yourself.  Check our facebook page for updates and don’t forget if your web browser messes with the formatting of this e-mail, go to www.purcellvillecommunitymarket.com to view this e-mail in all it’s glory!
My favorite quote this week is by Elizabeth Lesser: Â If we can stay awake when our lives are changing, secrets will be revealed to us–secrets about ourselves, about the nature of life, and about the eternal source of happiness and peace that is always available, always renewable, already within us.
So wake up, come out to the market, connect with your fellow Purcellvillains, support the local economy, and feed yourself some reallly good, fresh, local food!
If you didn’t see the video that my son Gus made of the market for our nascent You-Tube Channel,  check it out…it’s pretty awesome…  GUARANTEED to make you smile….If you like it, let us know and I’ll pass the word on to Gus…he’ll be making and posting more videos as the season progresses.
If you don’t see it above here, your web browser didn’t allow it, so click on this link to see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKiKwOq6oTs.
DON’T FORGET!!!! I’m STILL bugging everybody to donate to the Purcellville Community Market’s grassroots effort to raise funds to finish up The Last Hardware Store, a beautiful documentary about one of our hometown treasures, Nichol’s Hardware. If you didn’t read last week’s market e-mail where I made a compelling case as to why donating to the completion of this movie is a GREAT IDEA, or you just want to refresh your memory, click here!  Thanks to those of you who have already donated.  Through $25-$100 dollar donations we’ve managed to raise almost $800 through contributions from PCM as well as customers like you!  And you get your name in the credits at the end of the film for donating..I felt kind of proud seeing Purcellville Community Market up there on the big screen!
UPDATE: The film premiered last Saturday and was fantastic!!!  Hundreds of people showed up at the Bush Tabernacle to see it.  It was a story of perseverence, steadfastness, loyalty, triumph and tragedy and it sweetly told the story of the Nichol’s family and their family of employees.  Did you know that the average Nichol’s employee’s tenure is 25 years?  Lincoln Studios is still working on the film to make it fit for entering film festivals and possibly to show on public television, so if you haven’t dontated to our grass roots effort, it’s not too late.  The film will have another showing at Franklin Park this summer after it has been through more editing and polishing….
