Dear Market Goers,
First things First. We will be outside again starting this weekend. You know the place, East Town Hall Parking Lot. We’ll have the fire pit going… Let’s hope the weather gets a bit warmer! And Gonzales Produce will be back for the first time this season. Check below for a list of what they will be bringing this week.
I know I’ve said this so many times before, but I love good ole P’ville! It’s a sweet place to live…most of the people are warm, friendly, and kind and will go out of the way to say hello, give you a smile or lend a hand. I love our fantastic Mayor and Town Council who are fiscally responsible but stick up for the town when others try to take advantage of our slow-paced, casual, laid-back personality and they do their darndest to try to make the best out of by-right development. Purcellville is sweet, but not a pushover!
I’m really loving our sweet little downtown which is manned by an eclectic bunch of business owners who are trying like heck to build a real hometown place where people who live here will want to hang out. I was selling ads for the Fiddler on the Roof playbill and every business I approached enthusiastically purchased an ad (a byproduct of my sales call to Piper Dan’s Celtic Shoppe is the beautiful red felt hat I am now sporting! Wow, do they have some incredible merchandise). I love going to Magnolia’s and seeing my friends and neighbors and the wonderful folks who work there. I love going to Nichol’s hardware and buying little things I need for my household and for my market. And I always enjoy the great folks at It’s Bazaar and Shamrocks. They have done so much for our little downtown. It gives me a good, grounded feeling to walk and shop right down the street where I live.
I heard that last week’s market was a blast! Not only did our most excellent vendors bring the best foods you can find this side east of the Mississippi, but we had a great Irish duo play AND the incredible, dueling casts from the musicals Seussical and Fiddler on the Roof! Seussical is this weekend, so check the Blue Ridge website for times if you want to get tickets. Fiddler on the Roof is next weekend…the Friday and Saturday evening performances are sold out but there is a benefit performance for a family in need on Saturday at 2 pm at Harmony. Let me know if you want any tickets…and yes, my son Frankie is playing Fyedka so I am a shameless promotor of Fiddler…. Check out this video clip of Fiddler on the Roof that I took over a month ago on the Fiddler facebook page!
I saw some Market Goers and their kids at the 2011 Leesburg Youth Job Fair. Let me know if your kids got a job!!
AGAIN…A VERY BIG THANKS to It’s Bazaar for welcoming us inside during the brutal January, February and some of March weather. Becky and Bill and their staff we’re so good to us!
And thanks to Ellen James for playing upstairs and wooing vendors and customers with her Celtic Harp and ethereal vocals…and , and for Mr. Egan and friend for playing their awesome Irish tunes for the people of Purcellville! Here’s who’s at the market this week….
Lothar’s Gourmet Sausages is back this week…here’s their message to you….
Lothar and I both would like to thank so many customers for supporting us with kind thoughts and words through our sadness. It meant a lot to us. We are trying to respect Lothar’s father’s wish ” not to be sad” and to continue as he would have us liked to.
Let’s hope we have a good weather to be back outdoors again and we will greet you with all our fresh products as usual. New products to be introduced : Argentinian style Chorizos. Try them with a nice glass of Malbec for relaxing moment and let’s embrace the love surrounding us !
Thank you and see you on Saturday, your local artisan sausage maker family

We will have our all-natural sugar free Doggie Delicious Cookies and Pupcakes at the market this week. I have a lot of repeat customers on my dog treats. I think the dogs really love the taste of something that has real good ingredients. Also, for the dog cookies I have new shapes which include bones and fire hydrants which are decorated with yogurt. There are also now 4 cookies in a package but the same great cookie recipes.

Hondo Coffee and Pickled Goods - He’s coming with his local and non-local pickled goods…tasty pickles, sauerkraut, pickled beets…..and coffee. In fact, my friend Kim Nevin, owner of King Street Coffee, actually had a Saturday off from her kid’s sports and came out to visit our little market. She mentioned that she loved Hondo’s Mom’s beets, and Betty’s Chips and….!!! If you are in Leesburg, visit King Street Coffee…it’s the best coffee in Leesburg!!!!

The Stifler Family of What’s for Dinner Now will be bringing their delicous, all-natural, pasture-raised, grain-finished beef (www.whatsfordinnernow.com). I had their skirt steak the other day, I turned the oven to 350. I covered the steak with olive oil and salt and pepper, seared both sides in a cast-iron frying pan on the stove top on medium high and then slid it into the oven until the thermometer showed medium rare. Took it out of the frying pan and let it rest, covered with foil, on a cutting board for 10 minutes. MAN WAS IT GOOD!!! Here’s a message from Joyce:
Our angus beef is farm raised and is never fed growth hormones or antibiotics. Natural beef is not only a healthy choice, but its oh so flavorful. Thank you for your business!
